Turner County EMS receives two new Newport HT-70 Plus Ventilators from the Georgia Healthcare Preparedness Program Grant. Turner County EMS and Turner County EMA are part of Region “L” healthcare coalition for healthcare preparedness in Georgia. The grant was applied for by Tift Regional Medical Center, Region “L” Coordinating Hospital for the Georgia Department of Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response These new ventilators can be used by our paramedics for life threatening emergencies, long transports, in case of a power emergency, as well as emergency preparedness applications. For instance if Turner County lost power and we had multiple patients at the nursing home on ventilators, the HT-70 Plus could ventilate a patient for up to 10 hours on a single charge freeing up personnel to assist other patients. EMS Director Royal states these ventilator units which cost over $10,000 each will be a great asset to Turner County EMS and its citizens for many years to come. |
