Judge explains changes to concealed carry permits |
by Judge Penny E. Thomas Probate Court As of July 1, 2014, there were several changes to the Georgia Weapons Carry License. One important change to be aware of is that renewals can be done if less than 90 days remain before expiration date of license or if previous license has expired within the last 30 days. It is very important that you keep up with the expiration date of your license. On a renewal of this type, you have to apply in Probate Court, pay $30, and fill out a consent form at the 911 office to have your criminal history run for Probate Court purposes. This takes around 45 minutes. New applicants and those who miss the period mentioned above, will have to apply in Probate Court, be fingerprinted at the Turner County Jail and pay a total of $84.25. In these cases, it is best to call ahead of time, so we can check with the jail to make sure they can print you. All of this could take up to two hours for applying and printing. For more information regarding Georgia Weapons Carry License, you can stop by Probate Court in the Turner County Courthouse or call 229-567-2151. |
